Wedding Photography FAQ’s

We have added this page to help you make an informed choice when choosing a wedding photographer. These are questions that our valued customers have asked us. If you have any additional questions, please contact us.

  • What is a pre-wedding shoot? A pre-wedding shoot is done 1-2 months before your wedding day.We will go out on location to shoot some beautiful images with you both that will be printed in a coffee table book along with a nicely presented 8″x12″ matted image. This shoot will allow us to get to know each other before your wedding day so that you are more relaxed in front of the camera. This is not a family portrait shoot.
  • Can we have a package tailored to our needs? We highly recommend sitting down with us over a coffee and talking about your wedding day.We can then discuss what we can offer that suits your budget and wants.
  • Do we have to have a meeting? A meeting is something that we would highly suggest, it will allow us to show our work, discuss album types and so that you are 100% happy with the photographers that will be photographing your special day.
  • Your home page mentions the AAPP, what is it? AAPP Australia is especially dedicated to Photographers specialising in Weddings & Portraits and operates as an educational & professional standards body, providing valuable assistance and accreditation for the photographer, studio manager, and employee. Our question is this…..would you choose a plumber that is not accredited to put in a sink? If not, would you want to use a photographer that is not accredited to photograph one of the most important days of your life?
  • Do you do any Photoshop work on your wedding photographs? Not on all our photographs, some are straight out of the camera. We will always do some nice effects to photographs for Albums and will always edit a few images if you are only looking at purchasing a disk with the high-res images on it.
  • You have mentioned interest free payment options, can you provide us with further details? Our interest free options are done from 6-18months on wedding and portrait photography. The interest free is not done with us, it is through a finance company, but is a genuine interest free, a contract is signed between you and the finance company. We just fill out the paperwork and send it to them, the process is very quick.
  • Do we need to sign a contract when we book you to photograph our wedding? Yes, every reputable photographer will have a contract for their wedding photography. This is something that is highly recommended to ensure your photographer is committed to photographing your wedding and at a high standard. It also ensures that dates, locations, times and any fine details are fully covered.
  • Do we need to pay a deposit when we book? Yes, a $500.00 deposit is required at time of booking. The reason for this is: It shows commitment from you as the client. We book weddings months and sometimes a year or so in advance, we need to know that you are committed to using us on your day as we will have to turn potential clients away that will want to book us for the same day. Deposits are non-refundable.
  • When is the rest of the money owed due to be paid? We require payment of the balance on the contract to be paid 3 weeks before your wedding day.
  • My friend got married a couple of years ago and waited 12 months for the photographs, how long do you take? Sadly it’s a fact that some photographers take a great deal of time to organise albums and prints. 6 weeks after your wedding you will receive your proof album (if that is the package your requested), we then wait for the numbers your choose for your album, we will then require a further 8 weeks to get the album manufactured. Our albums are manufactured to an incredibly high standard. From the time of your wedding to receiving your album we would expect at the very latest 5 months. This includes time for your to choose your images and have page design meetings with our team.
  • I have heard the term “Shoot and Burn Photographer”. Whats is that? There is a market for every type of photography depending on budget. A shoot and burn photographer normally refers to a photographer that will arrive for your wedding (you will probably never have met them prior), they will take 2-6 hours of photography, then burn the images to a disk and post them too you. There is nothing wrong with this is you do not want to know who your photographer is (this service is normally very impersonal), do not want your images edited and/or you are running to a tight budget. We absolutely are not a shoot and burn photography business.
  • How can you guarantee the photographs we get will be at the same standard you have on your website? Every single wedding we shoot presents different situations (thats a part of what makes wedding’s so much fun), we work to a very high standard and have to as a member of the AAPP. We have a number of years photography experience (our chief photographer started developing his own photographs at 14 years old, he is now 38.) So we ensure our creative juices are working overtime on your wedding day. We will also spend some time researching the area your will be getting married in and it’s local area for your formal shoot, at the same time of day as your wedding. This will allow us to be well prepared on the day of your wedding.
